….an urbane sexiness, far removed from the rather chaste tradition of English Purcell performance.

In a nutshell:
A RE-IMAGINING OF TIMELESS REPERTOIRE
Experience the individual ingenuity and collective genius of L’Arpeggiata in Music for A While. L’Arpeggiata take as their inspiration Purcell’s famous ground basses, the recurring bass patterns on which he built songs, hymns and dances. This programme fuses the theatre and court music of seventeenth-century London with the improvisatory art of jazz. Dido’s Lament and Strike the Viol may be familiar, but under the direction of Christina Pluhar you will hear them as never before.
