Mai ngā hau e whā, kua tae mai nei ki Aotearoa,
Nā te aroha, nā te kotahitanga, kia ora ai tātou
Drawn from all directions, the four winds settle in Aotearoa,
And from love and unity comes our well being

- Tama Waipara

In a nutshell:
OUR CREATIVE NEIGHBOURHOOD •
OPEN YOUR EYES TO THE CITY YOU LOVE •
IMAGINING OUR COMMUNITY

Whānui is a communal adventure: a collection of participatory arts projects in which an amazing mix of people who call Auckland home create, join in with and experience artworks in the many spaces and places that form our neighbourhoods – street corners, shopping centres, parks and marae.

It’s a series of new works that come from creative partnerships between established artists and the creative communities of Tāmaki Makaurau.

From street performance and Bollywood karaoke in Sandringham to the creation of a large-scale community aroha-korowai in Glen Innes, from photographs taken by children and exhibited across the region to Pasifika theatre in Māngere and grassroots MCs in the central city, Whānui is FREE and filled with life-affirming, interactive, get-in-amongst-it events, and will be popping up near you.

A full programme of events, dates and locations will be available from February.
