Family Day Whānau Whānui
Family Day Whānau Whānui is always a special occassion as The NZ Herald Festvial Garden in Aotea Square transforms into a creative playground for kids, teens and adults alike.
Smack bang in the midst of the Festival calendar, on Sunday 13th March, families and arts fans can cruise around the Garden, enjoying a day of fabulous, fun FREE performances, workshops and arts activities.
Rain or shine, Family Day Whānau Whānui has all the bases covered!
ACE CREW:
The synced dance moves and slick performance style of K-Pop will be have the Festival Garden a- poppin’, courtesy of ACE Crew’s performances and dance workshop.

CIRCUS RONALDO:
The sixth generation of a renowned Belgian circus family, Danny and David Ronaldo are in town with their show La Cucina dell’Arte – clowing based on commedia traditions. They’re ready to impress with a knife-throwing excerpt from their award-winnning street show, Lazzi. Poetic, contrary and absurd, these brothers love to play with their audiences , so be prepared to be surprised!
AOTEA SQUARED:
The streets of Aotearoa are the canvas for prominent artists from the TMD Crew, who bring their sense of place, their tūrangawaewae, to life in the Festival Garden.
This is a sensational opprotunity to watch the inspirational Janine and Charles Williams, Benjamin Work and Elliot Frances Stewart as they create powerful art works and visual statements on identiy and place.
NOREUM MACHI:
New Wave Korean music group, Noreum Machi bring their colourful and exciting blend of spectacular percussion, dialogues, shamanic chants and acrobatic dances to the Family Day stage for all to enjoy.
PAINT A SMILE ON YOUR DIAL!
Family Day Whānau Whānui favourites, Magical Masquerade always bring the magic by transforming you into mystical beings from your widlest imagination.
THE INK SPOT:
Join fabric artist Katie Smith of Smitten Design and have fun with ink. Use blocks to print unique designs onto bags, pillowcases or tee shirts to take home.
TIOKA TOI:
The Festival Garden art board was a huge success in 2015! Everyone had a go at laying down thier designs alongside our own Family Day Whānau Whānui Garden artist. Come along again and try it out.
